The first to be introduced on this campus was the annual Black History Month presentation. This year’s theme was black art and culture, and students went to see their peers speak about black artists they love or whose stories have personally impacted them. The Diversity Club also invited a special guest, Dr. Jasmine L Morris, Dr. Morris spoke about how much of American culture is inspired by black culture.
The event generally got good reactions from students. The diversity club will continue next month with a presentation about Women’s History Month.
ISA Senior Board also introduced a new tradition of their own, Ro-Sham-Bo, a rock paper scissors competition where students and teachers in all grade levels start with one set of beads and have to challenge each other in a game of Ro-Sham-Bo. The winner takes all of the loser’s beads and the competition continues until one student has all the beads.
Thursday, Mar 7 the competition hit a climax when all the finalists were pulled out of class for one showdown. Senior Zinnia Crowley would be the student who would be the student who took home the win.
