On Thursday, August 18, the athletic department held its annual kick-off pep rally, Meet the Vols. This beloved school tradition introduced the 2022-2023 athletic teams and performance groups. Unfortunately, this year’s event went by rather quickly, but the performances made up for it with the show-stopping cheerleaders who hyped up the crowd and the Darling Drillers who danced to Meghan the Stallions hit song “Savage” and Rhianna’s “Pour It Up.”
Each coach took turns passing the microphone and introducing this year’s Volunteers, while delivering passionate speeches, swearing up and down to bring back another state championship to LEE. The athletes were instructed to sit on the floor as they waited for their group to be called amid welcoming cheers and whispered criticisms.
The band played the fight song twice that evening, once before the inspiring speeches and once after, giving the audience a chance to get excited all over again.
The event ended with an extended stunt pulled off by the cheerleaders, featuring music from the band as they sent the student body off in style, hopeful for an amazing year of athletics.
