One of the traditional festivities for seniors is Senior Assassin. Senior students participate in trying to shoot each other with water guns outside of school in hopes of winning the grand prize of $240. Now, the games have begun and are more spicy than ever at STEM.
The goal of the game is to find your target and take them down with a water gun. If you’re hit by your assassin’s water gun you’re out. But you can only shoot your target off campus and outside of school hours.
Many other classes constantly have each other’s location during the game but not in STEM. You have to follow, investigate, interrogate and plan how you will attack to take down your target.
There were 60 players who started the game and now only a quarter remain after 2 rounds.
When Senior Gabriel Urchico was asked about his strategy he said; “Ask around for people. For round two, actually I needed to find out [his opponent’s] address and I just asked one of his closest friends and I got sent a picture of his driver’s license.”
“What gives me the biggest advantage is the fact that I have a car and I’m allowed to do whatever I want and I have gas money,” he said. Having a car in this challenge is key to catching your target off guard whether it be before or after school.
Sometimes not even a car can ensure success in the game though. Senior Matthew Tamez was eliminated in round one in the most crushing way. When asked how he felt after being eliminated he said; “I felt terrible, he was actually my best friend and we made a pact together not to kill each other and two days after the game started, he took me out. “I was walking around telling everyone I got betrayed.”
When asked how confident he was going into the game he said “I was fairly confident, if he hadn’t gotten me I thought I was gonna go pretty far in the game.”
The hottest player on the block currently is Jezreel Garces with the most kills going into round three. Tamez thinks he’s “an absolute no life,” that stays at peoples houses all day.
Whether it’s hunting down your best friend, getting your target’s drivers licence or sitting at houses all day waiting to strike, there’s no doubt that being a senior assassin is one of the most fun things every senior should experience with their friends.
