The LEE JROTC team competed in the 2024 JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl over the summer, and placed sixth in finals. Sponsors Colonel Henson and Ms. Henchman were in attendance, as well as the team comprised of Jason Rushing, Christian Baliff, Kayla Vargas, and Rebecca Broughton.
The competition included teams from all around the world, with the final round including 32 teams, with four members each. The first round was completed online, but teams who advanced to finals got to compete in Washington DC.
The Bowl was academic based, so it included a wide variety of questions.
“It was everything from like knowing the Graffiti artist to knowing Opera music to knowing composers to knowing pre-calculus,” Col. Henson said.
This competition gave these 4 students the chance to learn from, and connect with, people from all across the globe.
“It was a lot of fun to interact with people all across the country….. the people there were very supportive of each other,” Jason Rushing (12) said.
